Mike Pence Gloats over SCOTUS Decision to Strike Down Trump’s Tariffs

Former Vice President Mike Pence recently took to social media to celebrate the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down President Donald Trump’s tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA). In a post on Breitbart, Pence gloated over the victory, highlighting the importance of the decision and its implications for the future of American trade.

The Supreme Court’s ruling, which came in a 6-3 vote, declared that Trump’s use of the IEEPA to impose tariffs on steel and aluminum imports was unconstitutional. The IEEPA is a law that allows the president to take certain actions in times of national emergency, such as imposing tariffs on foreign goods. However, the court found that Trump’s use of the law in this case was not justified and exceeded his authority.

Pence, who served as Trump’s vice president during his term in office, wasted no time in expressing his satisfaction with the court’s decision. In his post, he praised the Supreme Court for upholding the Constitution and protecting the American people from overreach of executive power. He also highlighted the importance of fair and free trade for the American economy.

The former vice president’s reaction to the ruling is not surprising, as he has always been a strong advocate for free trade and has often clashed with Trump on the issue. In fact, during his time in office, Pence was a vocal critic of Trump’s use of tariffs, arguing that they could harm American businesses and consumers. This latest decision by the Supreme Court only reinforces his stance and serves as a vindication of his beliefs.

Pence’s celebration of the court’s decision also reflects the growing divide within the Republican party over trade policies. While Trump’s administration was known for its protectionist approach to trade, many Republicans, including Pence, have been pushing for a more open and free trade agenda. With this ruling, it seems that the party is moving towards a more unified stance on the issue.

The implications of the Supreme Court’s decision go beyond just this particular case. It sets a precedent for future presidents and their use of the IEEPA, making it clear that executive power has its limits. This ruling serves as a reminder that the Constitution is the ultimate authority in our government and that no one, not even the president, is above it.

Pence’s post on Breitbart also serves as a reminder of the important role that the media plays in our democracy. In today’s world, where misinformation and fake news are rampant, it is crucial to have a reliable source of information. Breitbart, known for its conservative views, has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s policies. However, in this case, they have reported the news objectively, without any bias, and have allowed Pence to express his opinions freely.

In conclusion, the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Trump’s tariffs is a significant victory for the American people and the Constitution. It reaffirms the importance of fair and free trade and serves as a reminder that the rule of law must always prevail. Pence’s reaction to the ruling is a testament to his unwavering commitment to upholding the principles of the Constitution and promoting a strong and prosperous America.
