Disney’s Woke ‘Snow White’ Ended Up Losing a Staggering $170 Million

In recent years, Disney has been on a mission to revamp their classic animated films with live-action remakes. However, their most recent attempt, a woke version of “Snow White,” has turned out to be a financial disaster. The final accounting for the film’s 2025 release has been released and the numbers are staggering. The amount of cash that the Mouse House lost on this remake is a whopping $170 million. This begs the question, did Disney go woke and broke?

The remake of “Snow White” was supposed to be a modern take on the classic fairytale, with a diverse cast and a feminist twist. However, it seems that this attempt at being socially conscious has backfired on the studio. The film was met with criticism from both audiences and critics alike, with many calling it a shallow attempt at being politically correct.

One of the main issues with the film was its casting choices. While diversity and representation are important, it seemed that Disney was more focused on ticking off boxes rather than finding the best actors for the roles. This led to lackluster performances and a disconnect from the original characters that fans know and love.

Another problem with the film was its heavy-handed messaging. The feminist angle was pushed to the forefront, with Snow White being portrayed as a strong, independent woman who doesn’t need a prince to save her. While this may seem like a positive message, it came at the expense of the original story and character development. The film felt forced and lacked the heart and magic that made the original so beloved.

But perhaps the biggest issue with the film was its failure to connect with audiences. Despite the massive marketing campaign and the hype surrounding the remake, “Snow White” failed to make a splash at the box office. The film struggled to recoup its production and marketing costs, let alone turn a profit. This is a huge blow for Disney, a studio known for its blockbuster hits and successful remakes.

So, what went wrong? Did Disney go too woke, or was it just a case of bad filmmaking? It’s hard to say for sure, but one thing is clear – the woke culture that has infiltrated Hollywood may have played a significant role in the film’s failure. Audiences are tired of being preached to and want to be entertained, not lectured. Disney, a company known for its family-friendly entertainment, should have known better.

It’s not just the financial loss that is concerning. The woke “Snow White” also tarnished the legacy of the original film. “Snow White” is a timeless classic that has captivated audiences for generations. By attempting to modernize it, Disney has taken away the magic and charm that made the original so special. This is a disservice to both the film and its fans.

In the end, the woke “Snow White” has proven to be a costly mistake for Disney. It’s a reminder that not every classic film needs a modern remake, and sometimes, it’s best to leave well enough alone. As for the future of Disney’s live-action remakes, it’s safe to say that they may want to reconsider their approach and focus on creating quality films rather than pushing a political agenda.

In conclusion, the financial failure of Disney’s “Snow White” remake is a wake-up call for the studio. It’s a reminder that pandering to the woke culture may not always pay off, and in this case, it has cost them $170 million. Hopefully, this will serve as a lesson for Disney and other studios to prioritize quality storytelling over forced social commentary. After all, as the saying goes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
