Kevin Sinfield says ‘together we’ll crack this’ as he runs through city in memory of Rob Burrow

There was an incredible display of support and enthusiasm on Wednesday morning in Swansea as Kevin Sinfield embarked on his latest challenge – a grueling ultra-marathon. Despite the early hour, a large crowd gathered to cheer on the former rugby league star as he set off on his seventh ultra-marathon in just seven days.

Sinfield, who retired from professional rugby in 2015, has been pushing himself to the limit in support of his friend and former teammate, Rob Burrow, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year. The 40-year-old has already raised over £1 million for the MND Association and is determined to continue his efforts with this latest feat.

As the sun rose over Swansea, Sinfield was met with cheers and applause from the crowd as he prepared to take on the 26.2-mile course. The atmosphere was electric, with supporters of all ages and backgrounds coming together to show their support for Sinfield and his cause.

Among the crowd were many of Sinfield’s former teammates, who were there to show their support and join him for parts of the run. It was a heartwarming sight to see these athletes, who had once battled it out on the rugby field, now united in a common goal.

As the race began, Sinfield’s determination and strength were evident. Despite the physical and mental challenges of running a marathon every day for a week, he pushed through with a smile on his face, spurred on by the support of the crowd.

Along the route, there were signs and banners of encouragement, with messages of support for both Sinfield and Burrow. The community of Swansea had truly come together to show their support for these two inspirational men.

As Sinfield crossed the finish line, exhausted but triumphant, the crowd erupted into cheers and applause. It was a moment of pure joy and pride, not just for Sinfield, but for everyone who had been a part of this incredible journey.

Speaking after the race, Sinfield expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support he had received. He said, “I am blown away by the support and generosity of everyone who has been a part of this. It has been a tough week, but knowing that we are making a difference for Rob and others living with MND has kept me going.”

The impact of Sinfield’s efforts cannot be overstated. Not only has he raised a significant amount of money for a worthy cause, but he has also brought people together and inspired them to push themselves beyond their limits.

As the day came to a close, the sense of community and camaraderie in Swansea was palpable. Sinfield’s ultra-marathon had not only been a physical challenge, but it had also been a testament to the power of human kindness and determination.

In a world where negativity and division often dominate the headlines, it was refreshing to see a community come together to support a common cause. Sinfield’s ultra-marathon was a reminder that when we unite and support each other, we can achieve incredible things.

As Sinfield continues on his journey to raise awareness and funds for MND, we can all take inspiration from his determination and selflessness. Let us continue to support him and others like him, and together, we can make a difference.
