Morris and Mansour: Biden’s Student Loan Forgiveness Schemes Will Help Him in the Election – but Conservatives Can Seize the Issue

President Biden’s latest round of federal student loan “forgiveness” has been making headlines recently, as he continues to push for relief for those burdened by student loans. While this may seem like a step in the right direction, the reality is that it only scratches the surface of a much bigger problem.

As Democrats bank on this issue to pay dividends in the upcoming November elections, it’s time for Conservatives to take a stand and use government to end the education scam for good.

The student loan industry has been a hot topic for years, with many criticizing it for being predatory and exploitative. And they’re not wrong. The average American college graduate now carries over $30,000 in student loan debt, and the total student loan debt in the US has surpassed $1.7 trillion. This is not only a burden on individuals but also on the economy as a whole.

Despite this, the government has continued to support and even encourage the predatory practices of the student loan industry. And while President Biden’s latest “forgiveness” plans may provide temporary relief for some, it does nothing to address the root of the problem.

In fact, these plans only serve to perpetuate the cycle of predatory lending and subsequent degradation of higher education. By offering a band-aid solution rather than tackling the issue at its core, the government is allowing the education scam to continue.

But this is where Conservatives can step in and make a real difference. It’s time to use the power of government to put an end to this scam once and for all.

First and foremost, we need to address the rising cost of higher education. The cost of college has skyrocketed in recent years, far outpacing inflation and making it increasingly unaffordable for many Americans. This is largely due to the fact that colleges and universities have been able to raise tuition fees without any repercussions, knowing that students will take out loans regardless.

Conservatives should push for legislation that holds colleges and universities accountable for their exorbitant fees. This could include implementing price caps, requiring transparency in tuition costs, and providing incentives for universities to keep costs down.

In addition, we need to address the predatory practices of the student loan industry. This includes implementing stricter regulations and oversight, as well as providing alternative options for students to finance their education. For example, income-share agreements, where students pay a percentage of their income after graduation instead of a fixed loan amount, could be a viable alternative.

Furthermore, we need to focus on improving the value of higher education. Many students take out loans with the promise of a well-paying job after graduation, only to find themselves struggling to find employment in their field. This is because the quality of education has been diluted by the pressure to attract more students and generate more revenue.

Conservatives should push for policies that incentivize colleges and universities to focus on providing quality education rather than just increasing enrollment. This could include tying federal funding to graduation rates and job placement rates, as well as promoting vocational and technical education as alternative paths to success.

It’s time for Conservatives to take a stand against the education scam and use the power of government to truly make a difference. By addressing the root causes of the problem and implementing effective solutions, we can not only provide relief to those burdened by student loans but also prevent future generations from falling into the same trap.

So while Democrats may be banking on the student loan issue to win them votes in the upcoming elections, it’s time for Conservatives to seize this left-wing pet issue and make it our own. Let’s use government to end the education scam for good and pave the way for a better, more affordable, and more effective higher education system.
