Drivers warned to ‘avoid’ making one common move as Storm Chandra hits UK

Storm Chandra is on its way to Wales and the south west, bringing with it high winds and heavy rain. The AA has issued a warning to drivers, urging them to take extra precautions on the roads due to the dangerous gusts that are expected over the next 24 hours.

The storm, which has been named after the Hindu goddess of the moon, is set to make landfall tonight and continue into tomorrow. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the affected areas, with winds reaching up to 70mph and rainfall of up to 50mm.

The AA has advised drivers to avoid making one particular manoeuvre while driving in these conditions – overtaking. The strong winds can make it difficult to control a vehicle, especially when passing another vehicle. The AA has also warned against driving high-sided vehicles, such as lorries and caravans, as they are more susceptible to being blown off course by the gusts.

The safety of drivers and passengers is of utmost importance during this storm, and the AA is urging everyone to take extra care on the roads. They have also advised drivers to plan their journeys carefully and allow for extra time, as the heavy rain may cause delays and disruptions.

But despite the warnings, there is no need to panic. The AA has assured that their patrols will be out in full force, ready to assist anyone who may encounter difficulties on the roads. They have also reminded drivers to keep a safe distance from other vehicles and to reduce their speed in order to stay in control.

The storm may bring some challenges, but it also presents an opportunity for us to come together and support each other. The AA has encouraged drivers to check on their neighbours and offer assistance if needed, as well as to report any road hazards or obstructions to the authorities.

It is also important to remember that storms like Chandra are a natural occurrence and are necessary for the balance of our ecosystem. They bring much-needed rain to our land and help to replenish our water sources. So while we may experience some inconvenience, let us also appreciate the beauty and power of nature.

In the midst of this storm, let us not forget to take care of ourselves and our loved ones. The AA has advised drivers to make sure their vehicles are in good condition and to carry emergency supplies such as a fully charged phone, a first aid kit, and warm clothing.

As we brace ourselves for Storm Chandra, let us also remember to stay positive and keep a calm mindset. With the help of the AA and our own responsible actions, we can weather this storm and emerge stronger on the other side.

So let us heed the warnings and take the necessary precautions, but let us also not forget to appreciate the beauty and power of nature. Stay safe, stay positive, and let us all come together to face Storm Chandra with resilience and determination.
