Gujarat targets Surat to become India’s 1st slum-free city

Jitu Vaghani, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Gujarat, recently announced that the state is expected to construct around 5.5 lakh houses in the next five years under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). This is a significant step towards fulfilling the dream of every Indian to have a roof over their head.

The PMAY was launched by the Government of India in 2015 with the aim of providing affordable housing to all by the year 2022. Under this scheme, the government provides financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries for the construction of houses. The scheme has two components – Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin). The former caters to the urban population while the latter focuses on the rural areas.

Gujarat, known for its rapid development and progress, has always been at the forefront of implementing government schemes and initiatives. The state has already made significant progress in the construction of houses under the PMAY. As of now, around 3.5 lakh houses have been constructed in Gujarat under the scheme, and with the recent announcement by Jitu Vaghani, the number is expected to reach 9 lakh by 2025.

The announcement by Jitu Vaghani has been welcomed by the people of Gujarat with open arms. It is a testament to the commitment of the state government towards the welfare of its citizens. The construction of 5.5 lakh houses in the next five years will not only provide shelter to the needy but also generate employment opportunities for the local population. It will also give a boost to the real estate sector, which has been struggling due to the pandemic.

The PMAY has been a game-changer for many families in Gujarat. It has given them a sense of security and pride in owning a house of their own. The scheme has also been instrumental in reducing the housing shortage in the state. With the construction of 5.5 lakh houses, the state government aims to bridge this gap and provide every family with a decent and affordable place to live.

Apart from providing financial assistance, the PMAY also focuses on the use of eco-friendly and sustainable construction techniques. This not only helps in reducing the carbon footprint but also promotes the use of locally available materials, thereby boosting the local economy. The houses constructed under the scheme are equipped with basic amenities like water supply, sanitation, and electricity, making them livable and comfortable for the beneficiaries.

The PMAY has been successful in bringing about a positive change in the lives of many people in Gujarat. It has given them a sense of hope and a better future. The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, has been working tirelessly to ensure that the benefits of the scheme reach the deserving beneficiaries. The government has also taken various measures to expedite the construction process and ensure timely completion of the houses.

The announcement of the construction of 5.5 lakh houses in the next five years is a clear indication of the government’s commitment towards the welfare of its citizens. It is a step towards achieving the vision of ‘Housing for All’ and making Gujarat a model state in terms of affordable housing. The state government has also urged the people to come forward and avail the benefits of the scheme, especially those belonging to the economically weaker sections, who are the primary target of the PMAY.

In conclusion, the announcement by Jitu Vaghani about the construction of 5.5 lakh houses in Gujarat under the PMAY is a ray of hope for many families. It is a step towards fulfilling the dream of every Indian to have a house of their own. The state government’s efforts towards implementing the scheme and providing affordable housing to its citizens are commendable. With the support of the people and the government’s determination, Gujarat is on its way to becoming a state where every family has a roof over their head.
