India-Pakistan tensions among hotspot issues ‘mediated’ by China: Wang Yi

China’s Claim of Mediating Tensions Between India and Pakistan Firmly Rejected by New Delhi

The recent Operation Sindoor conflict between India and Pakistan has once again brought the two neighboring countries into the spotlight. The tension between the two nations has been a long-standing issue, with both sides constantly engaging in verbal spats and military standoffs. However, amidst this tense situation, China’s claim of mediating the tensions has been firmly rejected by India.

On May 7-10, the two countries’ Director Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) held direct talks to resolve the conflict, which was triggered by a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC). The Indian Army had retaliated to the unprovoked firing by Pakistan, resulting in the death of two Indian soldiers and one civilian. The conflict had escalated quickly, with both sides accusing each other of violating the ceasefire agreement.

In the midst of this, China claimed to have played a crucial role in mediating the tensions between India and Pakistan. However, New Delhi has categorically rejected this claim, stating that the conflict was resolved through direct talks between the two countries’ DGMOs. This firm rejection by India has once again highlighted the fact that China’s involvement in the matter was unnecessary and unwarranted.

It is not the first time that China has tried to intervene in the issues between India and Pakistan. In the past, China has attempted to mediate the Kashmir issue, which has been a bone of contention between the two countries for decades. However, India has always maintained that the Kashmir issue is a bilateral matter and does not require any third-party involvement.

Moreover, China’s claim of mediating the tensions between India and Pakistan is also seen as an attempt to assert its dominance in the region. China has been trying to expand its influence in South Asia, and its involvement in the conflict between India and Pakistan is seen as a part of its larger geopolitical strategy. However, India has made it clear that it will not allow any external interference in its internal matters.

India’s rejection of China’s claim also highlights the strong and cordial relationship between India and Pakistan. Despite the ongoing tensions, the two countries have maintained a channel of communication through their DGMOs, which has been instrumental in resolving conflicts and maintaining peace along the LoC. This direct communication between the two countries is a testament to their commitment to resolving issues through dialogue and not through external mediation.

Furthermore, India’s firm rejection of China’s claim also sends a strong message to the international community. It shows that India is capable of handling its own issues and does not require any external intervention. It also showcases India’s strong stance on maintaining its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In conclusion, China’s claim of mediating tensions between India and Pakistan has been firmly rejected by New Delhi. The conflict between the two countries was resolved through direct talks between their DGMOs, highlighting the strong and cordial relationship between the two nations. India’s rejection of China’s claim also sends a strong message to the international community and asserts its position as a responsible and capable nation. It is time for China to respect the sovereignty of other nations and refrain from unnecessary interference in their internal matters.
