US bilateral trade deals stand despite tariff ruling, Greer says

The United States has always been a leader in global trade, and our country’s commitment to fair and open trade has never wavered. Despite recent changes in leadership and political tensions, our trade relationships with key partners such as China, the European Union, South Korea, and others remain strong and intact. This was reaffirmed by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, who stated that all sealed deals with these countries will continue to be honored.

In today’s interconnected world, trade plays a crucial role in driving economic growth and creating jobs. The United States has long recognized the importance of trade and has been a strong advocate for free and fair trade practices. Our trade agreements with China, the European Union, South Korea, and others have been carefully negotiated to benefit both parties and promote mutual prosperity.

The recent statement by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is a testament to the strength of our trade relationships. Despite the ongoing trade tensions between the United States and China, the two countries have maintained a strong trade partnership. In 2019, China was the United States’ third-largest export market, with over $106 billion in goods and services exported to China. This trade relationship has not only benefited American businesses but has also provided Chinese consumers with access to high-quality American products.

Similarly, the United States and the European Union have a long-standing trade relationship that spans decades. The two economies are highly integrated, with over $1 trillion in trade in goods and services in 2019 alone. The European Union is the United States’ largest export market, and the trade agreement between the two parties has led to the creation of millions of jobs on both sides of the Atlantic.

South Korea is another important trade partner for the United States. The two countries have a free trade agreement that has been in place since 2012. This agreement has significantly increased trade between the two countries, with South Korea becoming the United States’ sixth-largest export market in 2019. This mutually beneficial trade relationship has also led to increased investment and job creation in both countries.

Aside from these key partners, the United States has also maintained strong trade relationships with other countries such as Japan, Canada, and Mexico. Our trade agreements with these countries have been crucial in promoting economic growth and creating jobs for American workers.

The statement by US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer is a clear indication that the United States remains committed to its trade relationships with these countries. Despite the challenges posed by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our trade partnerships have remained resilient and continue to benefit both parties.

Moreover, the United States is actively seeking to expand its trade relationships with other countries. The recent signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) and the ongoing negotiations for a trade deal with the United Kingdom are just some examples of our country’s efforts to strengthen its trade ties with other nations.

In conclusion, the United States remains a strong and reliable trade partner for countries around the world. The sealed deals with China, the European Union, South Korea, and others are a testament to our commitment to fair and open trade practices. As we navigate through these challenging times, our trade relationships will continue to play a crucial role in driving economic growth and creating jobs for American workers. Let us all work together to ensure that our trade partnerships remain strong and mutually beneficial for years to come.
