Karnataka survey finds strong public trust in elections and EVMs, sparks political row

In the world’s largest democracy, the Lok Sabha elections hold a significant place in shaping the future of the nation. As we gear up for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in 2024, it is crucial to understand the knowledge, attitude, and practice (KAP) of citizens towards these elections. With this aim, the Kerala Management and Entrepreneurship Association (KMEA) under the Department of Planning, Programme Monitoring, and Statistics has conducted an in-depth study titled “Lok Sabha Elections 2024 – Evaluation of Endline Survey of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) of Citizens.”

The findings of this study shed light on the current scenario of citizens’ understanding, mindset, and behavior towards the Lok Sabha elections. This comprehensive study was carried out in various parts of the country, keeping in mind the diversity of our nation. The data and insights obtained from this study will greatly aid in devising effective strategies for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

One of the significant highlights of the study is the evaluation of citizens’ knowledge about the Lok Sabha election process. The survey revealed that the majority of citizens are aware of the different phases of the election process, from nomination to the counting of votes. This reflects the successful efforts of the Election Commission in creating awareness among citizens and ensuring transparency in the election process.

The study also delved into the attitude of citizens towards the Lok Sabha elections. It was heartening to note that a vast majority of citizens perceive these elections as an opportunity to exercise their democratic right and make a positive impact on the nation’s progress. This displays a mature and responsible attitude towards the democratic process, which is the cornerstone of our country.

Furthermore, the study explored the various practices adopted by citizens during the Lok Sabha elections. It was observed that the majority of citizens actively participate in the electoral process by casting their vote. This is a positive sign as it reflects the strong belief of citizens in the power of their vote. The study also found that a significant number of citizens engaged in dialogue and discussions with their peers and family members to better understand the political scenario and make informed voting decisions.

In addition to the above findings, the study also highlighted the need for continuous efforts in enhancing the participation of marginalized and underprivileged sections of the society in the Lok Sabha elections. This is an important aspect for a truly representative democracy.

The study also recommended the use of technology to streamline the election process and make it more efficient. With the advancements in technology, it has become imperative to leverage it to ensure a smooth and hassle-free election process. The study also emphasized the importance of creating awareness among citizens about their voting rights and responsibilities.

The findings of this study are an eye-opener for all stakeholders involved in the conduct of Lok Sabha elections. It provides valuable insights into citizens’ perceptions and practices and serves as a wake-up call for any improvements needed for the future elections.

KMEA must be commended for their efforts in conducting this comprehensive study, which has contributed significantly to our understanding of citizens’ views towards the Lok Sabha elections. The Department of Planning, Programme Monitoring, and Statistics must also be acknowledged for providing the necessary support and platform for this study.

As we look towards the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, this study serves as a guiding light for all stakeholders to work towards a more inclusive, transparent, and efficient election process. The findings of this study will surely play a vital role in shaping the future of our nation and strengthening our democracy.

In conclusion, the “Lok Sabha Elections 2024 – Evaluation of Endline Survey of Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice (KAP) of Citizens” by KMEA is a commendable effort that provides valuable insights into citizens’ perspectives towards the Lok Sabha elections. It is an important step towards building a more informed, responsible, and participative society. Let us all work together towards achieving a better and brighter future for our nation through the Lok Sabha elections.
