Gov. Pritzker: Trump to Deploy National Guard amid Chicago Riots

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker recently announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has requested the Department of War to send 100 military personnel to Illinois in order to protect U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and their facilities. This decision comes amidst the ongoing riots and protests in Chicago, which have put the safety and security of ICE agents at risk.

The Governor’s announcement has received mixed reactions, with some praising the move as necessary for maintaining law and order, while others have expressed concerns about the use of military force in a civilian setting. However, Governor Pritzker has assured the public that this deployment is solely aimed at protecting the safety of ICE agents and maintaining the integrity of their facilities.

The need for this deployment arises from the recent escalation of violence and destruction in Chicago, which has been ongoing for several weeks now. The riots and protests, initially sparked by the death of George Floyd, have now turned into a platform for various groups to express their grievances and carry out acts of violence. Amidst this chaos, ICE agents and their facilities have become targets, with reports of vandalism and threats against them.

In light of these events, the DHS has deemed it necessary to request the deployment of military personnel to assist in protecting ICE agents and their facilities. This decision has been made after careful consideration and consultation with state and local authorities. Governor Pritzker has also been in close communication with the DHS and has expressed his support for this deployment.

The Governor’s decision to support the deployment of military personnel is a testament to his commitment to maintaining law and order in the state of Illinois. He understands the importance of protecting the safety and well-being of all citizens, including ICE agents who play a crucial role in enforcing immigration laws and protecting our borders.

Furthermore, Governor Pritzker’s decision is a clear message to those who seek to disrupt the peace and stability of our communities. The deployment of military personnel sends a strong message that the state of Illinois will not tolerate any form of violence or destruction, and will take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of its citizens and their property.

It is also important to note that this deployment is not an act of aggression towards the protesters. The military personnel will be working alongside local law enforcement to provide additional support and protection for ICE agents and their facilities. Their presence will also serve as a deterrent to those who may have ill intentions towards ICE agents and their facilities.

In conclusion, Governor Pritzker’s decision to support the deployment of military personnel to protect ICE agents and their facilities is a necessary step in maintaining law and order in the state of Illinois. It is a proactive measure to ensure the safety and security of all citizens, and to send a strong message that violence and destruction will not be tolerated. We must all stand together in support of our law enforcement personnel and work towards a peaceful and harmonious society.
