Sharpton: Trump ‘Race-Baiting’ by Targeting Black Majority Cities

MSNBC political commentator Al Sharpton has once again taken a stand against President Donald Trump, this time accusing him of “race-baiting” in his recent actions towards the police department in Washington, D.C. and other majority black cities.

During an appearance on “Chris Jansing Reports” on Tuesday, Sharpton expressed his disappointment and concern over Trump’s decision to take federal control of the police department in the nation’s capital, as well as his comments about crime in other cities with a high percentage of black residents.

“This is nothing but blatant race-baiting from President Trump,” Sharpton stated. “By targeting majority black cities and taking control of the police department in Washington, D.C., he is perpetuating a dangerous narrative that only serves to divide our nation even further.”

Sharpton’s comments come after Trump signed an executive order on Monday to give the federal government more power over the police department in Washington, D.C. This move has sparked backlash and criticism from many, including Sharpton, who see it as an attempt to undermine the authority of local officials and further escalate tensions between law enforcement and the black community.

But Trump’s actions towards Washington, D.C. are not the only reason Sharpton believes he is engaging in race-baiting. The president has also been vocal about the rise in crime rates in cities such as Chicago and Baltimore, cities with a high percentage of black residents. Sharpton sees this as a deliberate attempt to stoke fear and division among Americans.

“President Trump is using these cities as a scapegoat for his own failures,” Sharpton argued. “Instead of addressing the root causes of crime, he is using it as a tool to further his own political agenda. This is unacceptable and we must not allow it to continue.”

Sharpton also pointed out that Trump’s actions and rhetoric are not only divisive but also dangerous. By targeting black majority cities, he is perpetuating harmful stereotypes and further marginalizing already vulnerable communities.

“We cannot allow President Trump to use race as a political weapon,” Sharpton urged. “We must stand together and reject his attempts to divide us. We must demand that our leaders focus on finding real solutions to the issues facing our communities instead of using them for their own gain.”

Sharpton’s comments reflect the sentiments of many who are deeply concerned about the state of race relations in the United States. Trump’s actions and words only serve to widen the divide and hinder progress towards a more inclusive and united nation.

In conclusion, it is clear that President Trump’s actions towards the police department in Washington, D.C. and his comments about crime in black majority cities are nothing but race-baiting tactics. As Sharpton rightly points out, we must not allow him to use race as a political tool. Instead, we must come together and demand real solutions to the issues facing our communities. Only then can we truly move towards a more just and equal society for all.
