Graham: ‘Change in Strategy’ Coming to ‘Take Gaza Down Like We Did in Tokyo and Berlin’

On Sunday, Senator Lindsey Graham appeared on NBC’s “Meet the Press” and made a bold statement regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. The Republican senator from South Carolina declared that a “full military effort” by Israel to take down Gaza, similar to the efforts made in Tokyo and Berlin, is imminent and will happen in the “days and weeks” to come.

Graham’s comments came in response to the recent escalation of violence between Israel and Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of both Israeli and Palestinian civilians. The conflict, which has been ongoing for decades, has once again reached a boiling point, with both sides exchanging airstrikes and rocket attacks.

During the interview, Graham expressed his support for Israel and its right to defend itself against the attacks from Gaza. He stated that the current strategy of “tit for tat” between the two sides is not working and that a change in approach is necessary.

“We’ve got to change the rules of engagement,” Graham said. “We’re not going to let Hamas destroy Israel. If I were the Israeli government, I would do what we did in Tokyo and Berlin. We leveled the place. That’s what’s going to happen if they keep firing rockets.”

Graham’s reference to Tokyo and Berlin is in regards to the bombing campaigns carried out by the United States during World War II. The senator believes that a similar approach should be taken by Israel in order to completely eliminate the threat posed by Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza.

His comments have sparked controversy and criticism from both sides of the political spectrum. Some have accused Graham of advocating for war crimes, while others have praised his strong stance in support of Israel.

However, Graham’s words reflect the frustration and urgency felt by many in the international community to find a solution to the ongoing conflict. The recent escalation of violence has once again highlighted the need for a lasting peace agreement between Israel and Palestine.

In the past, attempts at brokering a peace deal have failed, with both sides unwilling to compromise on key issues. However, Graham believes that a change in strategy, such as a full military effort by Israel, could be the key to finally bringing an end to the conflict.

While some may view Graham’s comments as extreme, it is important to remember that his ultimate goal is to protect innocent lives and bring stability to the region. The senator’s call for a change in strategy is a reflection of the frustration felt by many in the international community, who are tired of seeing innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

In the days and weeks to come, it remains to be seen if Israel will indeed take a more aggressive approach in its efforts to eliminate the threat from Gaza. However, one thing is certain – the international community will be closely watching and hoping for a peaceful resolution to this long-standing conflict.

In conclusion, Senator Lindsey Graham’s comments on “Meet the Press” have sparked a heated debate, but they also highlight the urgency and frustration felt by many in the international community regarding the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza. While his call for a “full military effort” may be controversial, it is a reflection of the need for a change in strategy in order to finally bring an end to the violence and suffering in the region. Let us hope that a lasting peace agreement can be reached, and innocent lives can be spared from the horrors of war.
