Democrats Join Republicans to Kill Impeachment Resolution Against Trump

The U.S. House of Representatives made a decisive statement on Tuesday as they joined together, Democrats and Republicans alike, to kill the impeachment resolution against President Donald Trump. This move came as a surprise to many, and it showcased a rare moment of unity and bipartisanship in today’s highly polarized political climate.

The resolution, introduced by Rep. Al Green (D-TX), called for the impeachment of President Trump on the grounds of “high crimes and misdemeanors.” However, the resolution failed to garner enough support, with a final vote of 332-95 against it. This resounding rejection of the impeachment resolution is a clear indication that the majority of the House believes there is not enough evidence to impeach the President.

This is not the first time Rep. Green has attempted to impeach President Trump. In December 2017, he introduced a similar resolution that was also voted down by a majority of the House. This time around, his resolution received even less support, with only 95 Democrats voting in favor of it. This is a significant decrease from the 58 Democrats who supported the previous resolution. This shift in opinion within Green’s own party sends a powerful message that the Democrats are not united in their call for impeachment.

The lack of support for this impeachment resolution is not surprising for a few reasons. Firstly, there is no evidence to suggest that President Trump has committed any impeachable offenses. The Mueller report, which thoroughly investigated allegations of collusion and obstruction of justice, found no evidence of any wrongdoing by the President. Additionally, the economy is booming and unemployment is at record lows, which further reinforces the fact that the country is moving in the right direction under President Trump’s leadership.

Secondly, the American people do not want impeachment. A recent poll showed that only 37% of Americans support impeachment, while 56% are against it. This reflects a growing sentiment among the public that the Democrats’ constant calls for impeachment are a waste of time and resources. With the 2020 election just around the corner, it is clear that the American people are more focused on the candidates and their policies rather than impeachment.

Furthermore, the Democrats’ efforts to push for impeachment are hurting their own party. Many moderate Democrats in swing states are concerned that the constant talk of impeachment could backfire and lead to the loss of the House majority in the upcoming election. This is a valid concern, as the American people have shown time and time again that they want their elected officials to focus on the issues that matter to them, such as healthcare and the economy.

In a surprising turn of events, even Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) publicly stated that she does not support impeachment, stating that it would be “divisive” for the country. This is a rare moment of agreement between Pelosi and President Trump, as they both seem to recognize the impact that impeachment proceedings would have on the country.

The vote to kill the impeachment resolution was a significant moment for both parties. It showed that Democrats and Republicans can come together and put aside their political differences for the good of the country. It was a reminder that, despite our disagreements, the members of Congress are ultimately united in their commitment to serve the American people.

This vote also sends a strong message to the American people that their elected officials are focused on the issues that matter to them. It shows that they are not willing to waste time and resources on baseless attempts to remove a duly elected President from office.

Moving forward, it is important for both parties to continue to work together and put aside their political games. The American people want their elected officials to work towards finding solutions to the challenges facing our nation, rather than engaging in political theatrics.

In conclusion, the rejection of Rep. Green’s impeachment resolution by the U.S. House of Representatives is a positive sign of unity and bipartisanship. It is a testament to the strength of our democracy and a reminder that our elected officials are ultimately accountable to the American people. Let us hope that this moment of cooperation will continue as we move forward as a nation.
