Raskin: ‘We’ve Got a Completely Lawless Executive Branch’

Raskin: ‘We’ve Got a Completely Lawless Executive Branch’

Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) has recently made some strong statements about the current state of the executive branch under President Donald Trump. In an interview with CNN’s “OutFront” on Friday, Raskin boldly stated that the United States is facing a “completely lawless executive branch.”

This statement comes as no surprise to many Americans who have been closely following the actions of the Trump administration. From the very beginning of his presidency, Trump has shown a blatant disregard for the rule of law and a willingness to push the boundaries of his executive power.

Raskin’s words carry a weight of truth and urgency. As a member of the House Judiciary Committee, he has a unique insight into the workings of our government and the actions of the executive branch. And his assessment of the situation is not one to be taken lightly.

The fact is, we are facing a crisis of lawlessness in our country. And it is being led by none other than the President of the United States. From his constant attacks on the media and the judicial system to his blatant disregard for the Constitution, Trump has shown time and time again that he believes he is above the law.

But Raskin is not alone in his concerns. Many other lawmakers have also expressed their worry about the state of our democracy under this administration. And it’s not just Democrats who are speaking out. Even some Republicans have voiced their concerns about Trump’s actions and their potential consequences.

The truth is, the lawlessness in the executive branch is not just a political issue. It is a threat to the very foundations of our democracy. The Constitution clearly outlines the checks and balances that are meant to keep each branch of government in check. But under Trump’s leadership, those checks and balances have been eroded.

One of the most alarming examples of this lawlessness is Trump’s use of executive orders. While it is a legitimate tool for a president to use, Trump has taken it to a whole new level. He has used executive orders to bypass Congress and push through policies that are not only controversial but also potentially unconstitutional.

And when his actions are challenged in the courts, Trump has shown a complete lack of respect for the judiciary. He has repeatedly attacked judges and their rulings, even going as far as to call them “so-called judges.” This kind of behavior is not only disrespectful, but it also undermines the independence of the judicial branch.

Furthermore, Trump’s constant attacks on the media have created a dangerous environment for the free press. A free and independent press is vital to a functioning democracy, but Trump has labeled the media as “fake news” and the “enemy of the people.” This kind of rhetoric only serves to discredit the media and create confusion and mistrust among the public.

It is clear that something must be done to address this lawlessness in the executive branch. As Raskin pointed out, Congress has a responsibility to hold the administration accountable. And it is time for lawmakers to put aside their political differences and come together to protect our democracy.

But it’s not just up to Congress. We, as American citizens, also have a responsibility to speak out against this lawlessness. We must demand that our leaders uphold the rule of law and respect the Constitution. And we must use our voices and our votes to hold them accountable.

In the end, it is up to all of us to ensure that our democracy remains strong and that our government operates within the bounds of the law. As Representative Raskin said, “We’ve got a completely lawless executive branch, and we’ve got to do something about it.” Let’s heed his words and take action before it’s too late.
