HUD Secretary Turner Waives FHA Mortgage Rule to Help L.A. Rebuild

The devastating wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles in recent weeks have left many families and communities in a state of shock and despair. As the city begins the long and difficult process of rebuilding, it is heartening to see that help is on the way. On Thursday, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Scott Turner announced that his department had waived a key rule that could affect Federal Housing Authority (FHA)-backed loans, in an effort to assist victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles.

This decision by Secretary Turner is a clear indication of the government’s commitment to supporting those who have been affected by the wildfires. The waived rule, known as the “anti-flipping” rule, typically requires a property to be owned for at least 90 days before it can be sold with an FHA-backed loan. However, in light of the current situation in Los Angeles, this rule has been temporarily lifted to provide much-needed relief to those who have lost their homes.

The FHA, which is a division of HUD, provides mortgage insurance on loans made by FHA-approved lenders. This insurance protects lenders against losses if a borrower defaults on their loan. By waiving the anti-flipping rule, the FHA is making it easier for homeowners to secure loans and rebuild their homes in the aftermath of the wildfires.

In a statement, Secretary Turner emphasized the importance of this decision, stating, “We want to do everything we can to help the people of Los Angeles rebuild and recover from these devastating wildfires. By waiving this rule, we are removing a potential barrier for homeowners who are looking to rebuild and get back on their feet.”

This move by HUD is just one of the many steps being taken by the government to support the victims of the wildfires. President Trump has also declared a major disaster in California, making federal funding available to those affected by the fires. This funding will help cover the costs of temporary housing, home repairs, and other disaster-related expenses.

The decision to waive the anti-flipping rule is also a testament to the resilience and strength of the people of Los Angeles. Despite the destruction caused by the wildfires, the community has come together to support one another and begin the process of rebuilding. With the help of the government and other organizations, the city will undoubtedly rise from the ashes and emerge even stronger.

In addition to providing assistance to homeowners, the FHA is also offering special loan programs for those who have lost their homes in the wildfires. These programs include 100% financing for the purchase or rebuilding of a home, as well as low-interest loans for home repairs and improvements.

The post on Breitbart announcing this decision by Secretary Turner has been met with overwhelming support and gratitude from the public. Many have expressed their appreciation for the government’s swift action in providing aid to those affected by the wildfires.

In these difficult times, it is heartening to see the government taking proactive steps to support the victims of the wildfires in Los Angeles. The waived FHA mortgage rule is just one example of the commitment and dedication of HUD and the FHA to help the city rebuild and recover. Together, we can overcome this tragedy and emerge stronger and more resilient than ever before.
