I changed my name to Pudsey Bear and now I can’t get a passport

Eileen De Bont, a 53-year-old woman from the United Kingdom, made a selfless decision 16 years ago that would change her life forever. In an effort to raise money for charity, she changed her name to Pudsey Bear and has been known as the beloved Children In Need mascot ever since.

It all started in 2004 when Eileen decided to participate in a charity auction for Children In Need, a UK-based charity that supports children and young people who are facing challenges in their lives. As an avid supporter of the charity, Eileen wanted to do something to make a difference and raise funds for this worthy cause.

Little did she know, her decision to change her name to Pudsey Bear would capture the hearts of people all over the country. Pudsey Bear, a lovable and iconic character with a yellow fur and a red bandana, is the official mascot of Children In Need. Eileen’s transformation into Pudsey Bear was an instant hit, and she was soon recognized as the face of the charity.

Since then, Eileen has been actively involved in various fundraising events and campaigns for Children In Need. She has attended countless charity events, visited schools and hospitals, and even completed a 500-mile bike ride to raise money for the charity. Her dedication and commitment to the cause have made her a well-known and beloved figure in the community.

But for Eileen, it’s not just about raising money. It’s about making a difference in the lives of children who are in need of support and assistance. She has seen firsthand the impact that Children In Need has on these children, and it has only motivated her to do more.

In an interview, Eileen shared, “I never imagined that changing my name to Pudsey Bear would have such a huge impact. But I am grateful for the opportunity to use this platform to raise awareness and funds for Children In Need. It’s heartwarming to see the difference that we can make when we come together for a good cause.”

Her selfless act has not gone unnoticed. Eileen has received numerous awards and recognition for her contributions to the charity. In 2014, she was even honored with an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for her services to the community.

Today, Eileen continues to inspire others with her unwavering dedication to Children In Need. She has become a symbol of hope and kindness, and her story serves as a reminder that anyone can make a difference, no matter how big or small.

As Children In Need celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, Eileen, or should we say Pudsey Bear, is still going strong. She has no plans of stopping anytime soon and hopes to continue raising funds and awareness for the charity for many years to come.

In a world where negativity and bad news seem to dominate the headlines, Eileen’s story is a refreshing reminder that there is still so much good in the world. She is a true inspiration and a shining example of how one person can make a significant impact on the lives of others.

So the next time you see Pudsey Bear on your television screen or at a charity event, remember the woman behind the iconic character and her selfless act that started it all. Eileen De Bont, or Pudsey Bear, is proof that a small act of kindness can make a big difference in the world.
