Colombian superstar Shakira cancels concert in Lima after being hospitalized

Lima, Peru – The Latin American music community was left disappointed when Colombian superstar Shakira announced the cancellation of her highly anticipated concert in Lima, Peru. The singer took to her Instagram and X accounts to share the news with her fans, stating that she had been hospitalized due to an abdominal condition and was advised by doctors not to perform.

In her statement, Shakira expressed her sadness at not being able to take the stage for her beloved Peruvian audience. She had been eagerly looking forward to reuniting with her fans in Peru, where she was scheduled to perform on Sunday and Monday as part of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran tour. The country was the second stop on her Latin America tour, following two successful nights in Brazil last week.

The Latin American fans had given Shakira a warm welcome, with crowds gathering at airports to greet her upon her arrival in Peru. The singer took to social media to thank her fans for the emotional welcome, posting on Instagram, “Thank you for such an emotional welcome, Lima!”

The 44-year-old singer, who rose to global fame with her iconic hits such as “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Whenever, Wherever”, is known for her energetic and powerful performances. However, her health condition has forced her to take a break from her tour and focus on her recovery.

Shakira’s team and the concert promoter are already working on rescheduling the concert for a later date. The singer expressed her determination to perform for her fans as soon as possible, saying, “My plan is to perform this show as soon as possible. My team and the promoter are already working on a new date.”

The singer’s latest album, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, has been received with great acclaim by her fans and critics alike. The record, which includes the global hit “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53”, has won the Best Latin Pop Album at the 2024 Grammy Awards earlier this month. The album is a reflection of Shakira’s highly publicized divorce and showcases her raw emotions through her music.

Fans all over Latin America are eagerly waiting for Shakira to resume her tour, which is set to continue across the region before heading to Canada and the U.S. in May for a series of concerts through June. The singer has promised to give her best to her fans and deliver a memorable performance once she is back on stage.

Despite the setback, Shakira’s fans continue to show their love and support for the singer, sending her messages of well wishes and a speedy recovery. The cancellation of the Lima concert has left a void in the hearts of her fans, but they are hopeful and eagerly waiting for the rescheduled date to be announced.

Shakira’s health and well-being are of utmost importance, and her fans are standing by her during this difficult time. We wish her a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her back on stage, giving her fans the performance of a lifetime. As they say, the show must go on, and we have no doubt that Shakira will come back stronger and more determined to entertain her fans.
