Join our User Advisory Group

Are you a passionate and regular user of archives? Do you have ideas on how to improve the services provided by The National Archives? If so, then we want to hear from you! We are currently seeking new voluntary representatives to join our User Advisory Group (UAG). This is your opportunity to represent the views of archive users and help us shape and enhance our services.

The User Advisory Group (UAG) is an important and integral part of The National Archives. It is formed by a diverse group of individuals who have a common interest in archives and a desire to contribute to improving the services provided by The National Archives. The group meets four times a year and provides valuable feedback and suggestions on various aspects of The National Archives’ work.

As we strive to continuously enhance our services, the input of our users is invaluable. That is why we are actively seeking new representatives to join our User Advisory Group. We believe that by collaborating with our users, we can better understand their needs and expectations, and ultimately improve the overall experience of using our archives.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about archives and have a strong interest in helping us improve our services. Our ideal candidates should also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team. As a voluntary representative, you will have the opportunity to meet and network with other like-minded individuals, as well as engage with The National Archives’ staff and share your ideas and suggestions.

The User Advisory Group covers a wide range of topics related to The National Archives’ services, including access and opening hours, digitization, and online resources. As a representative, you will have the opportunity to voice your opinions and provide constructive feedback on these and other important issues. Your valuable insights and suggestions will be taken into consideration by our team as we work towards improving our services.

Being a part of the User Advisory Group also offers the chance to participate in various projects and activities. For example, previous members have been involved in the development of online resources and the planning of events and exhibitions. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience and make a difference in the archives community.

Moreover, by being a part of the User Advisory Group, you will have the chance to contribute to the development and implementation of our future plans and strategies. Your opinions and ideas will help shape the direction of The National Archives and ensure that our services evolve to meet the needs of our users.

We understand that some people might be hesitant to join as a voluntary representative due to time constraints. However, the time commitment for the User Advisory Group is minimal, with only four meetings per year. We also offer the option for remote participation, so you do not have to be based in London to be a part of the group.

Joining the User Advisory Group is not only an opportunity to have your voice heard and contribute to improving The National Archives’ services, but it is also a chance to be part of a vibrant and dynamic community of archive lovers. You will have the opportunity to connect with other users and share your passion for archives, and who knows, you might even make some new friends along the way.

Being a voluntary representative for the User Advisory Group is a rewarding experience that offers the chance to make a difference and contribute to preserving our nation’s history. So, if you are a regular user of archives and have a desire to help us improve our services, we would love to hear from you! Visit our website for more information and to apply to join the User Advisory Group. We look forward to welcoming new members and working together towards making The National Archives even better for our users.
