Carney on ‘Kudlow’ Fact Checks Biden’s Lie That He Eliminated the Trade Deficit

Breitbart Economics Editor John Carney has recently made a bold statement regarding President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address. During an appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Kudlow”, Carney declared that Biden’s claim of eliminating the trade deficit was the worst falsehood of his speech.

The State of the Union address is an important annual tradition where the President of the United States addresses the nation on the current state of affairs and outlines their plans for the future. This year, President Biden’s speech was highly anticipated as it was his first address to Congress since taking office in January.

In his speech, President Biden highlighted his administration’s achievements in the first 100 days and laid out his plans for the future. However, Carney, a well-respected economist, was quick to point out the inaccuracies in Biden’s claims, particularly when it came to the trade deficit.

For those unfamiliar with the term, the trade deficit refers to the difference between a country’s imports and exports. In simple terms, if a country imports more goods and services than it exports, it results in a trade deficit. This is a significant economic indicator as it can impact a country’s GDP, employment, and overall economic growth.

During his speech, President Biden proudly stated that he had eliminated the trade deficit, a claim that Carney strongly refuted. He explained that the trade deficit had actually increased by 4.8% during Biden’s first three months in office, citing data from the Commerce Department.

Carney further elaborated on the issue, stating that the trade deficit had reached a record high of $74.4 billion in March, the largest since 2006. He also pointed out that the trade deficit with China had increased by 11.6% in the first quarter of 2021, contradicting Biden’s claim of reducing it.

The Breitbart Economics Editor also highlighted the impact of Biden’s policies on the trade deficit. He stated that the administration’s decision to halt construction of the Keystone XL pipeline and rejoin the Paris Climate Agreement had contributed to the increase in the trade deficit. These actions have resulted in increased energy costs, which, in turn, have led to a rise in imports and a decrease in exports.

Carney’s statements have sparked a debate among economists and politicians, with many questioning the accuracy of Biden’s claims. Some have even accused the President of misleading the public with false information.

It is essential to note that the trade deficit is a complex issue that cannot be solved overnight. It requires careful planning and implementation of policies that promote fair trade and boost exports. While it is understandable for a new administration to face challenges in this area, it is crucial to acknowledge the reality and work towards finding effective solutions.

In conclusion, Breitbart Economics Editor John Carney’s statement on President Biden’s claim of eliminating the trade deficit has shed light on a critical issue. The trade deficit is an essential economic indicator that cannot be ignored or misrepresented. As citizens, it is our responsibility to stay informed and hold our leaders accountable for their actions and statements. Only then can we work towards a stronger and more prosperous economy for all.
